About Us

Welcome statement

Capital Region Romance Writers knows that writing careers, like love stories, have unique and deeply personal twists and turns—and we embrace those different experiences because variety makes our community richer. We write everything from sweethearts to handcuffs. Our membership includes award winning authors with thirty published books and people just starting out. And we sit down together every month for workshops and gatherings to share our stories.

So, whatever stage in your career, whatever love story is in your heart, we have workshops and community for you. Join us and share the love story in your heart.

Mission Statement:

We are a local chapter of Romance Writers of America, Inc.® based in Upstate New York, just East of Albany, the capital of New York. Although we meet in East Greenbush, New York, our members live in Western Massachusetts, Central and Northern New York and the mid-Hudson Valley.

Membership is open to people 18 years and over who are seriously pursuing a writing career in romantic fiction and to certain related professionals, all of whom are members in good standing with RWA®. Since March 2002, our members has represented the full range of romantic fiction, from multi-published authors to PRO members and those authors just starting their writing careers. Our membership also includes successful writers in other genres (e.g. mystery, young adult).

CR-RWA Meetings are held the second Saturday of the mont at the East Greenbush Community Library, unless otherwise noted.

Diversity Statement:

Capital Region Romance writers believes that everyone deserves a happy ending and knows that the uniqueness of every story is valuable. We seek to embrace the diversity of the capital region and welcome the difference that will come with more voices, because different experiences make our community richer.
