March 14, 2020

Our next meeting will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at the East Greenbush Library. Our business meeting will begin at 1pm, and will include continued discussion of the ongoing elections for the National board and our chapter’s status in the larger organization.

At 2pm, our own Jeanette Grey will present a new workshop:

March 14: Jeanette Grey – Size Does Matter: Crafting Fantastic Fiction At Any Length

From five page vignettes to eighteen volume epic fantasy series, the power of fiction doesn’t need to be limited by its word count.

In this workshop, we’ll explore the creative freedom that comes from tackling different kinds of stories at different lengths, learn how to set the scope of your plot, and identify the secret sauce that makes stories of any size emotionally resonant. Armed with these tools, we’ll also discuss marketing, pricing, and the best ways to strategically leverage both shorter and longer works to hook new readers—and keep them as avid fans for life.

Two-time RITA® finalist author Jeanette Grey started out with degrees in physics and painting, which she dutifully applied to stunted careers in teaching, technical support, and advertising. When none of that panned out, she started writing.

Never content to do just one thing, she is published in new adult, as well as contemporary, erotic, futuristic, and male/male romance. In her spare time, Jeanette enjoys crafting, playing board games, and spending time with her husband, her daughter, and her pet frog.
