Join us Saturday, January 9, 2016, for our first meeting of the year. Our very own K.A. Mitchell will present a workshop on characterization.
Getting More Bars: Creating Deep Reader Connections with Your Characters
This hands-on workshop helps participants develop layered characters with strong motivations for action. Developing this level of characterization makes the emotional conflict of a story stronger because the characters have real obstacles to an HEA, not something that can be solved through external compromise or rational conversation. Knowing what motivates the character at his or her core identity creates an opportunity for the kind of emotional conflict and the character growth arc that keeps readers and editors coming back for more.
Note: This will be a hands-on workshop! Bring your story file or a notebook and pen, and come prepared to work.
We hope to see you there!
