A good love scene can do more to show theromance blooming between your heroic couple than any other kind of sequence. New York Times best-selling erotic paranormal author Angela Knight discusses how to build the loving heat to a roiling boil that will leave readers gasping. She’ll also demonstrate how such scenes can be used to develop romantic conflict and provide needed reader relief from the darker action to come. Topics will include how to handle language
as well as managing heat levels for varying audiences.
Next, Angela will discuss the fine points of writing nail-biting action sequences that are both believable and exciting. She will talk about how to mentally choreograph a sequence so that it builds to an exciting finish without resulting in anticlimax later in the book. Knight will explore hand-to-hand sword fighting and modern police combat with the help of her husband, Lt. Michael Woodcock,a 20-year cop.
Weep with them, laugh with them, know them better than you know yourself. Annette will present a variety of angles from which to build, view, know, love and hate characters, including how a writer, through characterization, draws emotion from a reader.
It means all sorts of writers—published and unpublished, bestselling authors and aspiring authors and everyone in between, romance writers and other genre writers. If you’re a novelist, or if you are working toward becoming a novelist, this conference is for you.
Then this is definitely the right conference for you. We have two bestselling authors presenting workshops on writing action scenes, story mapping (including plotting, story development, goal, motivation and conflict), creating characters, and writing love scenes. Whether you’re a writing novice or a writing pro, there’s something here for you.
OMG! I **love** them! Can they autograph books for me?
Absolutely! There’s going to be a book signing at the end of the conference on Saturday afternoon. You can’t bring books with you, but you can purchase books there on-site for Angela and Annette to sign. You can also buy books from the published authors in our chapter, who will be there for the signing as well.
I wrote a novel, but now I need to learn about literary agents and what editors want. Is there something at the conference for me?
Of course! In a special bonus session on Friday night, there will be a panel discussion with a group of agents and editors, followed by a Q&A. Be prepared to ask questions!
If I register for the conference, will you feed me? Or do I have to buy my own lunch and coffee and whatnot?
There will be assorted fruit and pastries in the morning, along with coffee, tea and water. And there will be a sit-down lunch. This is all covered as part of your registration fee.
What about my friend, who’s joining me but won’t be going to the conference—can my friend join me for lunch?
Sure! All you have to do is purchase an “Extra Meal Ticket,” and that will cover your friend. The ticket price for lunch is $30.
Okay, I’m definitely interested. Let’s talk specifics. When is this conference again?
The main conference is Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is also a bonus session on Friday, June 12, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
What’s this going to cost me?
It depends. (Don’t you love those answers?)

Same price. So you might as well attend everything.
What if I only want to go to the book signing?
Well, that’s free, and open to the public. So if you want to miss the opportunity to hear Angela and Annette talk about their craft and asking them specific questions about writing, then come just for the signing.

Can you tell me more about the CR-RWA?
We are a local chapter of Romance Writers of America, Inc., based in Upstate New York, just east of Albany. Although we meet in East Greenbush, NY, our members live in Western Massachusetts, Central and Northern New York and the mid-Hudson Valley. Membership is open to people seriously pursuing a writing career in romantic fiction and to certain related professionals, all of whom are members in good standing with RWA. Formed in March 2002, our members represent the full range of romantic fiction,
from multi-published authors, successful writers in other genres (e.g., mystery, young adult and urban fantasy), PRO members and those authors just starting their writing careers.
