Scheduled for the panel:
Lindsey Faber, Managing Editor, Samhain Publishing, Ltd.
A lifetime love of reading and a master's in literature taught Lindsey Faber that she enjoys nothing more than reading great books—and then analyzing the heck out of them. Now she puts these skills to use as Managing Editor for Samhain Publishing, helping talented authors achieve their vision and make their books even better. She's thrilled to be a part of Samhain, where she's able to combine her love of great stories with her passion for technology. Lindsey resides in Cincinnati, but her laptop and a love of travel keep her on the go: to quiet corners of coffeehouses, industry conferences and—when she really needs to get away—Paris, France.
Keyren Gerlach, Associate Editor, Harlequin/Silhouette
Since first signing on with Harlequin Silhouette in 2004, Keyren has had had the unique chance to work on many different imprints, from MIRA, Kimani Press and Red Dress Ink to HQN Books and LUNA Books. In her current position as Associate Editor for Silhouette Romantic Suspense, Keyren has more of a focus on discovering and developing talent on the series side of things, but continues to acquire for the single title program. Her author base includes rising stars of the romance genre and romance veterans alike, from Kristan Higgins to Carla Cassidy.
Miriam Kriss, Literary Agent, Irene Goodman Literary Agency
Miriam Kriss joined the Irene Goodman Literary Agency just as she was finishing her master's degree in Fine Arts at New York University in early 2004, and quickly became one of the hottest young agents in town. Miriam likes to say Irene knows the market because she's been doing this for over twenty-five years and is savvy as all get out, but Miriam herself knows the market because she is the market. And that knowledge has paid off for both her and her clients in a big way.
Miriam's focus remains on commercial fiction and she represents everything from hardcover historical mysteries to all subgenres of romance, from young adult fiction to kick ass urban fantasies, and everything in between. If it's fun to read, she probably represents it. She doesn't look for specific stories, focusing instead on finding a voice she can fall in love with and champion.
Pam Strickler, Literary Agent, Pam Strickler Author Management
Pam Strickler was senior editor for sixteen years at Ballantine Books and now works as an authors' representative with her own company. Her web page is at www.pamstrickler.com for current information. Pam is a member of the Association of Authors' Representatives (AAR) an associate member of Mystery Writers of America, Romance Writers of America, and is a “recognized agent” by the RWA. She started her agency in 2001 and previously was associated as an independent agent with the Scovil Chichak Galen Agency of New York.
Pam is concentrating the work of her agency on historical fiction, women's fiction and romance. As an agent, she has represented first novels such as Kate Quinn's MISTRESS OF ROME, Dorothea Benton Frank's SULLIVAN'S ISLAND (with SCG), Wendy Wax's SEVEN DAYS AND SEVEN NIGHTS, multicultural romances such as Terra Little's JUMP, and an Edgar Award finalist Sally Wright's PURSUIT AND PERSUASION.
Ms. Faber, Ms. Gerlach* and Ms. Strickler will be available for appointments on Saturday morning.
*Ms. Gerlach prefers to hear pitches for suspense or single title books.
