August 12, 2017 – Kari W. Cole and Kelli Newby – The Ins and Outs Of Writing Contests
Contests can be a great way to get feedback, network with other writers, and get your work in front of agents and editors. But there are many kinds out there–from blog-based pitch contests to RWA chapter contests. Knowing which ones to submit to can be overwhelming. How do they work? What are the benefits and drawbacks to each? And how do you choose which ones are worth it?
For this workshop, Kari W. Cole (two time Golden Heart Finalist and winner of the Daphne du Maurier and Catherine awards) and Kelli Newby (Golden Heart Finalist, winner of Fire and Ice and two time #Pitchwars mentee) will share what they’ve learned through their experiences with a wide variety of contests, giving you the tools to choose which ones are best for you and how to get your work ready for them.
- Note: There will be no business meeting this month. The program will begin at 2pm.
We hope to see you there!
